Be careful in lee areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Naturally released loose avalanches can occur in the lower areas.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

12 mm precipitation, up to 20 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 1000 m a.s.l Friday night. Strong breeze from southwest, changing to strong breeze from the north during the afternoon. -8 °C to 1 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Vind og meir nysnø i fjellet vil føre til stadig meir pålagring av fersk fokksnø i leheng. Ver merksam på at vindretninga endrar seg i løpet av dagen og fleire himmelretningar vil bli utsatt.
I låglandet der snødekket er fuktig eller vått vil det truleg stabilisere seg raskt, men det kan framleis går nokre våte laussnøskred i låglandet om natta og på morgonen.
